Within the village there are two pubs, the Swan and Dog as well as the Little Black Dog. They are both excellent village pubs, with the Swan and Dog serving beautiful food. There is also a local hairdresser next to the little black Dog called Ivy Grace Hair, which has fabulous reviews on Google. Even though there are no local shops, Waitrose is only a short drive down the main road, with a little McColl’s in Singleton. Within the village there is also Great Chart primary school, holding an outstanding Ofsted report.
There is a listed walk called Stour Valley and Godinton walk which goes from Great Chart going through to Hothfield, ending in Hothfield common. The route ends back in Great Chart and is nearly nine miles long with an elevation of 537.9ft. When doing this trail, please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
